September 3
I wake up early by the phone‘s alarm at 05:30. After five minutes I decide to start packing. When it‘s just after half past seven I have to go down my pack and bike down to the lobby.
The breakfast bar has already opened and I help myself with bread, ham, bacon, eggs, salami, liver pâté and muesli with yogurt. I pick up the coffee later While I eat breakfast, I check out today‘s stage to Naestved, a trip of just over 85 km.
After breakfast I pack the bike with all the bags and around 10 I sit on the bike and have to make my way through the crowd. The route that I saved as a GPX file and loaded into the Garmin GPS does not work as intended.
Gets a message about calculation errors. It will be navigating with Google Maps and the mobile. Not optimal After some hassle and thinking about where I am, I eventually find “Gamle Konge Landvej“.
It stretches along the coast almost straight and flat. No road that I will remember with any great joy. It is drizzling all the time so the rain jacket is planned.
Down to Køge, the first larger community it is 41 km and I stop to have a small simple lunch. I park my vehicle outside a restaurant Cafe La Viva. I sit outside and order a beer and a sandwich from the waiter.
I accept his suggestion and ten minutes later my sandwich plate appears. It was the biggest sandwich I‘ve eaten, I don‘t know when. It‘s a plate with french fries, salad, chicken, and some kind of mess. It was a whole dinner and more that that. The rain has stopped and the sky looks brighter.
From Køge to today‘s final destination, Naesatved, it is just over 45 km and the road is quite straight and flat, although a lot of small slopes, 1–4% slope I can‘t escape, as well as the rain that has started again.
The landscape is quite typical Danish, agriculture, meadows, plantations and lots of wind turbines. The traffic is quite lively, but not hard.
But most of my cycling is on fantastic bike paths.

For a touring cyclistpath like this is worth everything
The times I have to cross the road from the bike path, motorists leave the way and stop before I have to cross. This rarely works, if at all, back home in Sweden. Eventually.
I arrived in Naestved, a small community. I had marked a campsite here, but it had completely disappeared. At NETTO, I inquired if they knew of any other campsite, but the answer I got was too far away.
Now it‘s past half past eight and it‘s pretty scary outside.I take myself out of the community in the direction of Præstø.
A few km later I see a sign about a rest area with toilets, tables and a grill shop, “Skovgrillen“. Here is room to pitch the tent and the proximity to the toilet, table and trash cans is perfect.
They owner of the grill is about to close but they don‘t mind that I camp on the lawn next to it. Since I had a hearty lunch and also late, there will be no evening meal, just coffee and a sandwich

Talk to you tomorrow when I‘ll probably be in Rostock
