but since season 2025-2026 Modo plays in the second-tier legaue.

Modo has produced numerous born-and-raised NHL talents, Anders Hedberg, Peter Forsberg, Sedin brothers, Marcus Näslund,Victor Hedman,Per Svartvadet, Niklas Sundström.

Örnsköldsvik is a large industrial city, i.a Bosch Rexroth, BAE System, Outokumpu, Sanmina and pulp industry.

In the immediate vicinity of the city there are slalom slopes, ski jumping facility, and a large ski and mountain bike area ”Skyttis”
