Today is the first time in my life I’ve had the chance to see penguins in person… wow!

Route to Punihuil and Pengiuneras
First a ride for about 60 km to Punta Cornel and ferry over to the isle. Then a half hour stop
at Chacao for coffe and visting some souvenir shops.
On this isle the roads are very narrow, winding and up and down but beautiful. Seems to be a very rural area, cows everywhere.
Next stop at Ancoud for about an hour. I visited a museum and a beautiful church, took a stroll down by the harbor before heading to the bus.
We continues afte more narrow and winding roads and still very beautiful surrandnings.

Ancoud, Catedral San Carlos
After this break we continue after even narrower roads but the surroundings just became more and more beautiful.

This restaurant was closed for some reason, wonder why
We eventually arrived at Pinguineras Puñihuil, a long beach with a few bars, hotels and boathouses.
First we had to show our ticket and then put on life jackets. The boat was a large outboard with fixed seats and we all fit in.
The sea was calm so no one had to worry about seasickness.
A number of larger and smaller islands lay ahead of us and the guide told us what som info about the penguines. He mentioned that two species penguines was breeding auround these isles, Humbolds and Magellanics. Around these isles cormorants also breeds. If we were lucky we could see both sealions and seaelephant
The isles are protected , public not allowed to disembark. Penguines were everywhere , solitairs and in large groups. They shared the isles with groups of corrmorants, and other seabirds.
Some seaelephants had occupied one of the isles bald tops and they seems to enjoy.
An hour an a half later we was back on the beach and now a nice lunch was waitingat one of the restaurants.

Before we return to Puerto Montt are guide took us up to the highest point of Puñihuil, Muelle El Caleuche just to show us a scenic view over the bay.
A path with rails tgook us upp to the viewpoint.
From here a gorgeous view over the bay and ocean, down below flew lots of birds in and out from their nests. A lovley finish on this wonderful day

Before we headed to the dinner bar and restaurant, we took a walk up to a stunning viewpoint. This day was something extra for me and I was both tired and excited. We was back in Puerto Montt just before 7.30 Pm and then a half hour walk back to camp
See Yeah
